co-energi is an independent specialist provider of sustainable and resource efficient designs in building engineering services that is built on a philosophy of smart design. The company has a decade of experience working across multiple markets in the region and beyond covering countries including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Cambodia and Haiti. Its team is drawn from diverse backgrounds that has thus far worked on industries including telecommunications. leisure, printing, packaging, apparel and other manufacturing based sectors
Our philosophy is based on the belief that humanity will seek better and smarter built environments. With this in mind we have developed a strong team focused on delivering intelligent state of the art solutions.

Mr. Shahid Sangani
Chairman / CEO
Mr. Sangani boasts an impressive career of over 30 years, holding senior management positions in Apparel, Manufacturing, Investment Banking, and Trading organizations. He currently serves as the Managing Director of Dynawash Ltd, Autus Chemicals (Pvt) Ltd, and Trade First (Pvt) Ltd, in addition to his role as the MD/CEO of co-energi. Furthermore, he serves as a Non-Executive Independent Director at Vidullanka PLC, a Colombo Stock Exchange listed Renewable Company. Professionally, Mr. Sangani is an Attorney at Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.
Mr. Irshad Halaldeen
Director
With a remarkable career spanning over 25 years, Mr.Halaldeen has garnered extensive experience, including 20 years in roles as Vice President/Director for both local and international organizations across diverse sectors, such as Banking, Manufacturing, FMCG, Healthcare, Leisure, and Logistics. His expertise lies in strategic change management and HR, and he is recognized for his proficiency in business planning, organization development,and talent management. Mr. Halaldeen holds a Master's degree (MSc.) in Industrial Management & Economics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
Mrs. Magda Aghababyan
Director
Mrs. Aghababyan brings a wealth of experience in business administration and management, with over 20 years of diverse industry exposure across different cultures. She played a crucial role in building insurance domain expertise and enhancing business analysis profession at Virtusa, a global IT Services Company with roots in Sri Lanka. Additionally, she holds over seven years of experience working for the Global Operations of IBM's Mainframe Division in the USA headquarters, encompassing various functional areas. Mrs. Aghababyan's professional journey also includes work in government and non-profit sectors in Armenia. She holds an MBA from the American University of Armenia and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute.

Prof. Rahula Attalage
Senior Technical Consultant
Professor Attalage is currently the Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies & Research at SLIIT. He previously served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Moratuwa (UoM) and held the position of Head of the Department for Mechanical Engineering at the same university. Prof. Attalage also acted as the Director of the Postgraduate Studies Division of the Faculty of Engineering, UoM. He has been sought after for consultation on various local and regional projects related to bio-mass energy technologies, refrigerator labeling standardization, energy efficiency promotion strategies, and practices by governments, NGOs, and commercial organizations. With vast experience in the field of Energy and Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Attalage has held many senior positions in both the Public and Private sectors, including serving as a Member of the Board of Management of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), the regulator of all public utilities in Sri Lanka, including Ceylon Electricity Board. He was also the lead consultant for the first LEED Platinum Certified Garment Factory in the World, MAS Intimates Thurulie.
Dr. Vidhura Ralapanawe
Senior Sustainability Consultant
Dr. Ralapanawe has over 15 years of experience in the apparel industry, specializing in sustainability, resource efficiency, and green building design. He earned his Doctorate in Organizational Change & Organizational Development from Ashridge Business School and holds a Master's Degree in Responsibility & Business Practice from the University of Bath, UK. Dr. Ralapanawe spearheaded the energy task force for MAS Holdings, developing internal processes, design guidelines, and optimization pathways for energy and resource efficiency in MAS facilities across Sri Lanka. He also led the design team for MAS Intimates Thurulie, the eco-manufacturing plant of MAS Holdings. His areas of expertise include sustainability, creativity & innovation, strategy and change, communications & PR, research skills, climate change, life cycle assessment (LCA), energy/carbon efficiency, and green building design.
Mr. Kelum Perera
Senior HVAC Consultant
With over 25 years of experience in HVAC design, steam/plumbing design, and facility maintenance, Mr. Perera has a rich background in the industry. His previous roles include Chief Engineer at Metropolitan Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (Pvt) Ltd, an authorized distributor for YORK AC equipment in Sri Lanka, Chief Engineer at Golden Sun Resort, Waskaduwa (Managed by Aitken Spence Hotel Management Pvt Ltd), and Mechanical Engineer at Shin Nippon Air Technologies Company Limited (Sri Lanka Branch Office SNK, Japan). He possesses extensive experience in consultation, design, implementation, and commissioning of AC projects in various industries both in Sri Lanka and abroad. Mr. Perera's expertise includes Plumbing design, fire/steam/thermal systems, and cold room implementations. He holds an M.Sc. in Building Services Engineering and a B.Sc. (Eng) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa. He is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer (CEng) and a corporate member of Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (MIESL).
Mr. S. M. Mohamed Rifai
Senior Electrical Consultant
Mr. Rifai brings more than 20 years of experience in electrical design, energy, and sustainability to the table. He has previously worked with esteemed organizations such as Sigma Sustainability Institute (Pvt) Ltd and Amithi Power Consultants (Pvt) Ltd, handling local and international consultancy assignments. Before his consulting career, he served as a Site Engineer at Holcim Lanka, Toledo Projects, and Al Mashariq Company Ltd. (Saudi Arabia). Mr. Rifai has extensive experience in consultation, design, implementation, and commissioning of electrical systems and energy management solutions for facilities, ranging from individual buildings to mega cities. Additionally, he is well-versed in design of wind power generation projects. Mr. Rifai is a key figure in developing renewable energy projects, with a particular focus on utility-scale Solar PV Projects at Vidullanka PLC, a Renewable Energy Company listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange. He holds an M.Sc. in Sustainable Energy Engineering from KTH, Sweden, a B.Sc. (Eng.) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. He is a Chartereed Electrical Engineer (CEng) and a corporate member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (MIESL).
Mr. Pathum Jayawardana
Senior Electrical Consultant
Mr. Jayawardana possesses over 15 years of experience in Electrical and ELV designs in local and international projects. He holds a B.Sc. (Eng.) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa and an MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University, United Kingdom. He is a corporate member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (MIESL) and the Lanka Association of Building Services Engineers. Additionally, he is an Associate Professional Professional of the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka.
